Let’s rescue Makana together!

Makana Municipality is broken. This municipality has been brought to its knees by an uncaring, corrupt and incompetent ANC. Gross negligence of infrastructure, self-enrichment and fiscal mismanagement have left residents feeling hopeless and dejected. Electricity outages and collapsed water and sewage infrastructure have become the norm. Our residents have been denied their constitutional right to basic services. The local economy has shrunk significantly as businesses and families have opted to move to greener pastures.

But there is hope… the Democratic Alliance has a plan to restore effective services and bring back clean governance to Makana. We have an excellent track record where we govern. This is evident not only in the Western Cape, but also right here in our province. The Kouga Municipality has been governed by the DA since 2016 and they have turned their municipality into an effective service -centered and a people-centered government, achieving a clean audit for the past financial year. We can do the same right here in Makana!

The journey will not be easy. It will require steely nerve, total commitment and constant communication with our constituents. It will require regular workshops with our DA-led municipalities to learn best practice, and it will require incredibly hard work. The DA stands ready to take up the challenge.
